Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that feature. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not retain or record those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can cause the servers and analytics services to collect routine technical information about the visit:
- Page-view times and the length of visits
- Browser name, version, device type, and operating system
- The referring website, when one is available
- The Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
- Pages viewed during the session
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure site use, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine this traffic information for reporting. A browser can be configured to reject cookies, though disabling them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected outside provider
- Maintaining reliable operation and page performance
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Measuring which guides are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
No database of personal criminal-record information is hosted, compiled, or sold by this site. The pages explain how to approach the Todd County Sheriff, Circuit Court Clerk, Kentucky State Police, AOC Records Unit, and Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a dossier about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted to one of those tools is governed by that company's privacy policy and its own retention or sharing rules. Review the applicable policy before entering a query because those practices are outside our control.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Todd County offices, Kentucky courts, state agencies, legal resources, or third-party services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy terms apply. Those terms should be read before personal information is provided.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads. We do not operate that tracking infrastructure.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that process a query submitted through their tool
- Advertising networks that serve material on site pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so absolute protection against unauthorized access or a breach cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, it may be requested for deletion.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide additional rights. Kentucky's Consumer Protection Act, KRS 367.110 through 367.300, addresses unfair, false, misleading, or deceptive practices. The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, and criminal-history dissemination provisions in KRS 17.150 and 17.151 govern public agencies rather than this private site. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of eligible personal information
- Ask what personal information is held
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Object to certain forms of processing when the law provides that right
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will be posted here and identified by its new effective date.
